Support Camp Tamborine Acquisition

Help maintain the integrity of the MTC Precinct!

Please commit to prayer if you are able to financially help. MTC has until Monday 9th November to raise funds to acquire Camp Tamborine. If we can do this, settlement will occur Monday 30th November 2020. The contract price is $750,000. Allowing for specialist reports, compliance works and insurance, the total is $887,500.

It must not be underestimated that an 88 bed facility for the price of a 4 bedroom home in North Tamborine is an amazing ministry opportunity. To build an equivalent size facility on our land would cost upwards of $2,200,000.

There are many ways in which you can help support the purchase of Camp Tamborine:

1. Commit to prayer how you can support this amazing ministry potential, talk with your friends and people you know who have experienced MTCC before and know how important the precinct is;

2. Direct deposit to our special bank account:

Hebrews 11:1 (NIV) reminds us, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Why is the Presbyterian Church selling Camp Tamborine?

Please give prayerful support for our Brothers and Sisters in the Presbyterian Church of Queensland (PCQ). PCQ is experiencing financial pain and this is impacting our many friends, both at a corporate, Church and community level. Please stand with us in prayer for PCQ at this time.

The Bible tells us in Ephesians 6:18 (NIV) “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people”.

The current financial impacts mean PCQ is having to sell assets including their camp sites which include Camp Tamborine, located in the Keswick Road precinct. The land on which Camp Tamborine is built was purchased from MTC for the expressed purpose of building a campsite which they completed in 1987 with a capacity of 80 beds.

MTC and the surrounding Keswick Road precinct have served the people of South East Queensland in countless ways over a long history. The precinct has been in operation long before surrounding development crept up to its boundaries.

We believe it is vital that the Evangelical Christian integrity of the precinct is maintained and that a coherent group of organisations retain ownership of the precinct.

“Whilst the new Scenic Rim Council Town Plan has mechanisms to protect the precinct, the site can be sold to anyone being seen by Council to comply with the Scenic Rim Council’s zoning criteria.”

MTC is committed to seeing Christian Conventions and Camping viable across the precinct. To deprive Christian groups of its ongoing use in its present capacity would be not only be short-sighted but another blow to those who cannot afford the few commercial (and often unsuitable) retreats that exist purely for the purposes of making high gain profits.

With prayerful consideration, the MTC Membership has voted to enter into a contract with PCQ for Camp Tamborine, on the basis of ‘no debt’ to the association. We now have a limited time in which to raise the funds needed to purchase the site outright.

Your support is needed to help this become a reality.
